Following Christ to the Glory of God
We see a vibrant church living in the Word, united in service, and embracing our family and neighbors through discipleship.
About God
There is one God who created and sustains the universe. This God exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He has revealed himself through creation, history, and ultimately through the life of Jesus Christ.
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God – both fully divine and fully human. He is the fulfillment of all God’s promises and purposes for humanity. Jesus lived a sinless life and modeled for us the best way to live as people created in the image of God. He offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He then arose from the dead, ascended back to God the Father in heaven, and will return again to judge the world.
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for salvation in Jesus Christ. He also works in the church and in the lives of every Christian to provide the spiritual power and resources needed for ministry and holiness.
About the Bible
The Bible is God’s inspired word, written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth and the standard used to live the Christian life, both individually and as a church.
About Humanity
God created human beings in His image for the purpose of establishing a relationship with Him and with one another. But we sin against God and each other, and that sin separates us from relationship with God and the rest of creation. God's gracious work of salvation is to repair all that was broken, to "reconcile to Himself all things" (Colossians 1:20).
About Grace
By His death and resurrection, Jesus restored the broken relationship between God and humanity. The only way of salvation for any person is “through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 15:11). This grace motivates and sustains the new life to which God calls and equips us (Ephesians 2:8-10).
About Faith
Faith is belief in God, yet it’s more than mere intellectual agreement to a truth (James 2:19). Genuine Christian faith is a personal reliance on God and includes trusting Him and committing our lives to follow His will and obey His commands.
About Becoming a Christian
Salvation is by grace through faith. Those who believe are called by God to respond to His grace by repenting of the sin in their life, publicly confessing that Jesus is Lord, and being joined to Jesus and His church by being baptized in water and raised to a new, transformed, eternal life in Christ. Upon this faith response, we are promised that our sins are forgiven and that we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit to live in us and empower us to follow Christ. We are adopted by God to be His children and join with His people, the church, in God’s mission to reconcile all creation to Him.
About the Church
Those who have responded in faith through repentance, confession and baptism are formed into a body of believers through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus continues His ministry through this body, the church.
About the Christian Life
The Christian life seeks through the grace of God and the power of the Spirit to live out the way of Jesus every day. We are flawed, imperfect people, but God in his mercy is transforming us more and more into His image. Together as a church, we work to share the good news of salvation in Christ and serve others in His name through our words and actions.
Becoming a Christian: We believe that salvation is by grace through faith. This faith includes believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died to take the penalty of our sins on Himself, and that He was raised from the dead on the third day by the power of God. Every person capable of faith is called by God to believe in Jesus as their Savior, repent of sin in their life, publicly confess that Jesus is Lord, and be joined to Jesus and His church by being immersed in water for the forgiveness of sins. Upon this faith response we are promised that our sins are forgiven and that we receive the gift of God’s Holy Spirit to live in us and to empower us to live for Jesus. All who come to faith in Jesus may request baptism at any time.
The Lord’s Supper is open to all baptized believers who have gathered with us to proclaim the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus until he comes again.
Becoming a Member of the Granbury Church of Christ: All believers, who by faith in Christ Jesus have been immersed in water for the forgiveness of sin, may request to be recognized as members of the Granbury Church of Christ. Such membership places them under the spiritual care of the Elders of this church. It also means commitment to service and full participation in the worship and work of this congregation. Our mission is to be a church that practices the presence of Christ to the glory of God – making disciples, equipping one another for Christian living, and serving through ministries of mercy.
You may request baptism, ask for prayer, or ask to be recognized as a member by going forward during the time of response at the close of the sermon or by contacting an Elder or Minister of the congregation at any time.
