Ministry of the Month: Email Prayer Chain

Most of us, at one time or another, have felt all alone when facing tragedy or difficulties in our lives. The Lord, in His great wisdom and love, has provided what we need during such times by sending His Spirit to be with us (John 14:15-17) and giving us a church family to encourage and pray for us (James 5:13-16).

 

The Granbury Church of Christ has a longstanding ministry designed to help us in praying for one another. It began over 25 years ago when Ella Vonne West, a new member at the time, set up a prayer phone tree similar to one at the church she had previously attended. Later on, as the use of personal computers and email became commonplace, the ministry evolved into an email prayer chain where prayer requests are submitted by members and sent out online through an email distribution list. This format has streamlined the process and enabled more people to be notified of prayer needs. God created us to live in community with one another. No one should have to journey through this life on earth alone. Thanks to Ella Vonne and her dedication to this ministry, no one has to.
