When I was diagnosed with leukemia 10 years ago, I had no idea how important blood and platelets would be in my race with cancer. My first thought regarding the use of donated blood would have focused on the initial need for accident victims, surgery or other traumatic incidents. Certainly not a cancer patient! It didn’t take long for this perspective to change.
I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2005. I learned that chemo shuts down the body’s normal process to produce components.
The blood donated at drives like yours bridged the gap for me when my body wouldn’t produce it. During these critical times, you were in the trenches with me making sure I had what I needed. Your efforts were live-giving and life-saving.
Thank you for your continued support. You make a difference.
Forever grateful, s/ Dan Armstrong
