Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9
Last week’s bulletin article talked about the importance of sharing our lives, as well as the gospel, with others. This doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and much patience to build meaningful and lasting relationships. And all the while, Satan is working to hamper our work and persuade us to give up when progress seems slow.
Satan also places obstacles in our path to discourage us and take our eyes off the mission. As we read the list of difficulties Paul faced in 2 Corinthians 11:23-29, we see that Satan will use any means possible to derail our efforts for God.
Our missionaries could tell similar stories of slow progress, pain, and difficulty, such as dealing with an ongoing national economic crisis, working through cumbersome government regulations and restrictions, and suffering from cancer or other serious health issues. Like Paul, they have stayed the course, kept the faith, and persevered.
May we as a church also persevere in giving our support – financially and otherwise – to these men and women who refuse to give up on the mission of bringing precious souls to Christ.
