Children Growing in the Lord

Growing in the Lord is a lifetime process. Ideally, it begins with planting the seed of God’s Word in the young hearts and minds of children. The Granbury Church of Christ has a long history of striving to do just that through its children’s ministry.

Marlita Windham, our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, is herself a product of this ministry, as she grew up attending GCOC with her parents, Richard and Marla McClelen. In her role as coordinator, she has carried forward and supported several longstanding programs and traditions such as Sunday and Wednesday Bible classes, Leadership Training for Christ, and the annual Christmas musical, family blessing, and presentation of Bibles to first graders (which you will witness this morning). She has also continued, and in some cases implemented, newer programs like the Light Walkers class, Camp Jam, and Mission Camp. All of these activities have the ultimate goal of promoting spiritual growth in our children.

As August’s Ministry of the Month, the children’s ministry asks everyone to get involved by volunteering as Bible class teachers, serving as LTC coaches, hosting children’s events, participating in donation drives, etc. As we build relationships with these kids, we may even find ourselves growing spiritually along with them. Because after all, growing in the Lord is a lifetime process.
