Wedding Shower / Pounding

For Scotty and Melinda (Brown) Weaver on Sunday, August 19, 2:00-4:00pm in the Parlor, hosted by the Youth Deacons’ wives. They are registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and J. C. Penney. Let’s help them stock their pantry and establish their home as they begin their ministry here!

 

Announcements    

Wednesday Night Brown Bag – 5:00-6:15pm, in the Fellowship Center. Bring your own meal; the church will provide free drinks and ice cream. The Uplift service will follow at 6:30 in the Worship Center.

 

Ladies’ Newcomer Dinner – Monday, August 20, at 6:30pm at the home of Susan Blevins, 601 E Woodcreek Ct. The dinner is for all ladies who have become members in the last year and anyone else interested in joining the ministry. Committee members will furnish the food. (Menu will be build-your-own-salad. Greens will be furnished. Committee members are asked to bring an ingredient to go on salad such as chopped tomatoes, avocados, nuts, etc. Dessert will be ice cream sundaes.) Come enjoy an evening of visiting and getting to know one another!

 

Wednesday Morning Ladies’ Bible Class will begin September 5, 9:30-11:00am, in Room 5 (Encouragers classroom). Nancy Peterson will lead a study of women in the Bible using a book by Liz Curtis Higgs titled, Bad Girls of the Bible (no need to purchase the book). We hope you will join us!

 

Help Needed! Foster’s Home is planning a work day on Friday, September 7, to clean up the grounds in preparation for their Children’s Day the next day. The work includes mowing, trimming, picking up debris, etc. If you can help, please contact John Webb at 817-578-3810.

 

Ladies are invited to Woman2Woman on Saturday, October 6, 9:00am – 2:00pm at Lewisville Church of Christ. Cynthia Guy will speak on “Life is Like a Box of Chocolates.” The event is free of charge and includes continental breakfast (at 8:00am) and lunch. Childcare is available for infants – kindergarten. Please register at w2wconvention.com by September 22 if you plan to attend.

 

Save the Date! Keith Lancaster of Acappella Ministries is coming back to GCOC to lead another Praise & Harmony Workshop on October 20-21. Mark your calendar to participate in this uplifting time of fellowship and worship to God!

LTC 2019 – Students, sign up now to get a jump start on individual events like teaching and service challenge, art projects, and more! Registration forms are available on the LTC bulletin board next to the restrooms on the east side of the building.
