God’s Mission in Brazil: A Family Affair

Mission service in Itu, Brazil is a family affair. Antenor and Phyllis Goncalves, along with their daughter, Ali, and her husband, Mark Kaiser, work together in this South American city of 150,000 to spread the good news of Jesus. Besides serving a church of 300+ members in Itu, this family leads a nationwide Christian media ministry, speaks at church retreats and workshops, hosts a number of annual equipping and outreach events, and maintains an ongoing ministry to the poor and homeless. God has used the many talents of this dedicated family to make a difference for Christ in Brazil.

While it is good to highlight the productive work of our mission partners, it is also important to remember that they, like us, sometimes have to deal with difficult personal circumstances in their lives. This family is no exception. During the past year, this family has experienced the illness and death of Phyllis’ mother, the degenerative illness of Mark’s mother, and the serious bike accident of Mark’s brother – all of which occurred thousands of miles away in the U.S. So as we pray for and encourage this family, let’s not only remember their work and partnership in the Lord, but also ask God for His comfort, healing, and strength for them and their loved ones.
