The Pearl Harbor Church of Christ was established in 1956, with several buildings constructed on land leased from the Department of Navy. During the past 60 years, over 3,000 military families have transitioned through the congregation. The church currently has a membership of approximately 150 members and continues to serve both local and military families.
The Department of Navy has decided to sell the land where the church is located. The current lease gives the church “the first right of refusal” to purchase the land before it goes on the public market. The congregation needs approximately 1.3 million dollars to purchase the land, including legal fees associated with the purchase. Their members have donated approximately $400,000. All together they have raised $931,000 of the 1.3 million needed.
Some interest has been expressed here to reach out and help this church. If you would like to donate to this effort, you may write a check to the Granbury Church of Christ and mark your contribution “Pearl Harbor Church,” and we will forward one check to the congregation in Pearl Harbor. Please submit your donation by October 4, 2015.
