Ladies’ Newcomer Dinner – Thursday, August 24, at 6:30pm at the home of Nelda Coonrod, 6117 Laredo Ct. The dinner is for all ladies who have been GCOC members for one year or less. Members who would like to get better acquainted with our newcomers are welcome to come and bring food to share, along with our committee members. Join us for a wonderful time of visiting and getting to know our new sisters!

 

Foster’s Home Children’s Day – Saturday, September 9. The campus will be open for tours at 11:00am, with a barbecue lunch served at noon. Come and see how God is changing lives at Foster’s Home!

 

Magi Project – We have an opportunity again this year to participate in the Magi Project, sponsored by Healing Hands International, to pack gift boxes for children in Africa for Christmas.  Now is a good time to begin purchasing gift items for the boxes, especially school supplies such as pencils, pens, crayons, etc.  More details to come.

 

Free Service Provided – John Knox and Rachel Rouse are offering free counseling services as a part of their degree and licensing programs. If you know someone who could benefit from counseling, contact John at  or the church office (817-573-2613), or Rachel at 806-438-8919.

 

Connections Groups

The Sawyer Group will meet Sunday, August 27, at 6:00pm at the Sawyer home for a potluck dinner. Everyone is invited to attend.

 

39ers

Game and Potluck Day – Each Thursday beginning at noon in the Parlor. Bring a sack lunch and your favorite game and join us for a fun afternoon.

 

Children’s Ministry

KidMin Kickoff – Sunday, August 20, 5:30-7:30pm in the Fellowship Center. For all children’s ministry families and volunteers. Please RSVP in the KidMin Facebook Group or email Tyler at .

Deacon Selection

After prayerful consideration, the elders recommend the following men to serve as deacons, based on the guidelines given in 1 Timothy 3:8-13: Clayton Bryant, Jason Lyman, and Blake Marion. The intent is to publicly ordain these men on September 10. Members are encouraged to personally affirm and/or ask questions of these men by September 2.
