First Sunday Welcome Lunch

Always be eager to practice hospitality.  Romans 12:13

Do you remember your experience as a new member of the Granbury Church of Christ?  In a congregation this size, the task of learning names, getting acquainted with hundreds of new people, and becoming involved in the ministries of the church can seem overwhelming, even impossible. With a quarter of GCOC’s membership having been here five years or less, and half the congregation here for ten years or less, chances are that many of you have not forgotten that feeling of being “the new kid on the block.”

About twelve years ago, the church leaders saw a need to welcome visitors and new members to the congregation, so the First Sunday Welcome Lunch was born. On the first Sunday of each month during the school year, the Sunday morning adult Bible classes take turns hosting a luncheon in the Fellowship Center, inviting visitors and those who have become members of GCOC in the past year to be their guests. The hosting classes provide the food. It is a good way for visitors and new members to meet others in a smaller, more intimate setting.

The first luncheon of the new school year will take place TODAY, immediately following the morning worship service. And right after the meal, there will be a brief time of orientation in the Parlor – a new feature added this year. So if you are a visitor or new member, come join us for some good food and great fellowship!
