Piecemakers Quilting Bee – Monday, September 24, 10:00am to 2:00pm. They will meet this month at Betty Curbo’s house (9014 N. Longwood Dr.) to work as a group making weighted blankets for children at Foster’s Home in Stephenville. Bring a sack lunch. Contact Betty Curbo (817-573-7535) if you plan to attend.

 

Wednesday Night Diner – 5:00-6:15pm, in the Fellowship Center. This week’s menu includes Tamales (pork, chicken, or brisket), Beans, Chips, Salsa, Salad Bar, Cookie and Drink for $5. Kid-friendly menu is also available for $1 per item. Proceeds go toward scholarships for youth group activities.

 

Mentors Needed – Brawner Intermediate School is looking for adult mentors for 3rd – 5th grade students for 30 minutes a week during their lunch period. If interested, please attend the information meeting at the school on Thursday, October 4, at 12:30pm or go to their website (www.granburyisd.org/volunteer).

 

Ladies are invited to Woman2Woman on Saturday, October 6, 9:00am – 2:00pm at Lewisville Church of Christ. Cynthia Guy will speak on “Life is Like a Box of Chocolates.” The event is free of charge and includes continental breakfast (at 8:00am) and lunch. Childcare is available for infants – kindergarten. Please register at w2wconvention.com by September 22 if you plan to attend.

 

First Sunday Welcome Lunch – The Neighbors and Faith-Builders classes and Elders and Deacons invite guests and new members who have placed membership since October 2017 to be their guests for lunch in the Dining Hall of the Fellowship Center on Sunday, October 7, immediately following the 10:15 worship service.

 

Home Health & Hospice Care Presentation – Sunday, October 7, 5:00pm, in the Worship Center. Trish Reiner of Interim HealthCare will give information and answer questions regarding home health and hospice care to help families determine when help is needed and how to evaluate the services and options that are available. (No evening service in Room 5 that night)

 

Service Opportunity – Volunteers are needed to run booths and game stations at Granbury’s first community-wide Fall Festival on Saturday, October 13. If you would like to help, please contact Scotty Weaver.

 

Foster’s Trunk or Treat – Sponsored by GCOC at Foster’s Home for Children in Stephenville on Sunday, October 28, 6:00-8:00pm. Candy donations are needed (put in tubs located around the building). Volunteers are also needed to go and decorate their car trunks for candy distribution. Contact the church office if you can help.

 

Help Needed – Volunteers are needed to operate the electronic equipment in the media booth during Sunday and Wednesday services. Training will be provided. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, contact Mark Hackney in the church office.  

 

Save the Date! Keith Lancaster of Acappella Ministries is coming back to GCOC to lead another Praise & Harmony Workshop on October 20-21. Mark your calendar to participate in this uplifting time of singing and worship to God!

 

Save the Date! Ray Vander Laan, the creator of That the World May Know videos often used in our summer adult Bible classes, will conduct a seminar here at the Granbury Church of Christ on February 15-17, 2019. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the cultural and historical context of the Bible and how it affects our understanding of Scripture and our walk with Jesus today.

Game and Potluck Day – Each Thursday beginning at noon in the Parlor. Bring a sack lunch and your favorite game and join us for a fun afternoon.

 

Children’s Ministry

LTC Meeting – Sunday, September 30, in Room 5 (Encouragers classroom) immediately following the Sunday morning worship service. This meeting is for the parents of new or returning 3rd – 12th grade students who are interested in participating in Leadership Training for Christ.
