Over the past month, we have received multiple resumes and inquiries regarding our youth minister position. We have worked through a process of resume reviews, phone interviews, on-site interviews, call-back interviews, and most important, prayers for discernment and God's intervention. During this process, we have had a wide range of applicants, from those just graduating to men who have been in some type of ministry for several years.
At the very beginning of our search, Lubbock Christian University recommended a young man to us – Scotty Weaver. Scotty has a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Text and is looking to spend his entire career working with young people. He is the recipient of the prestigious Charles and Judy Siburt Christian Character Award and the Liff Sanders Promise in Ministry Award. We were very impressed with Scotty in all of his interviews, as were other congregations (in fact, he had a written offer from another church).
We are excited to announce that Scotty has accepted our offer to be the next Youth Minister! He will immediately begin looking for a place to live and plans to begin work next week. In addition, Scotty will be getting married on August 4 to Malinda Brown. Malinda will be a huge asset as she comes from a family of ministers. Currently, her father is the Adult Education Minister at MacArthur Park Church of Christ in San Antonio, and one of her brothers is a youth minister in Kansas.
Please pray for Scotty and Malinda as they prepare to begin their ministry in Granbury. We will have an "official" Granbury welcome at a later date.
