Using Their Gifts for God

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,

as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

Every Christian has a gift given by God. As the scripture above indicates, we are to use those gifts, not for selfish purposes, but for God’s purpose in extending His grace to those around us.

Today, we are blessed to have with us two of our mission partners who are living examples of using their gifts in service to the Lord. Javier Adame, our missionary in Chihuahua, Mexico, has the gift of planting and nurturing churches. He began with establishing the Guereca Church of Christ in the 1990s, and for years, he steadily and patiently built up that congregation to be the primarily self-sustaining church that it is today. Then several years ago, Javier began working to plant a new congregation, including construction of a new building, in the Jardines de la Mancha area. Today that building is in the dry, and a group of more than a dozen meet there to worship each Sunday, with Javier conducting Bible studies, training leaders, and organizing activities throughout the week. He will give further details in his presentation today.

Lou Seckler is a man of many talents who uses his trilingual language skills (English, Spanish and Portuguese), as well as his exceptional speaking and writing abilities, to encourage and train church leaders across Latin America and Brazil through his Harvest Ministries program. Lou will be translating for Javier today.

In keeping with the Living Our Mission devotional reading today from Acts 14:26-27, let’s listen and rejoice as these men share what God has done through them as they have implemented their gifts in Extending the Kingdom.

Welcome, Javier and Lou!
