GCOC Missions

This year the GCOC Missions Committee has launched a couple of new efforts to improve communication with the church regarding the various mission points we support. One is called Mission of the Month, where a different missionary is featured each month through written articles, PowerPoint, videos, and live reports when the missionary is here for a visit. For instance, January featured Mark and Ali Kaiser, who serve in Itu, Brazil. During their visit here last month, they prepared and served a Brazilian meal for the congregation and presented a video in a Sunday morning assembly that described their work with residents of a halfway house. This month Casa de la Esperanza (House of Hope), a children’s residential facility in Anahuac, Mexico, is being highlighted, culminating next Sunday with a presentation by Gil Sanchez, the executive director of the home. The goal of Mission of the Month is to keep the congregation abreast of what is happening at our mission points throughout the year.

 

The church website is another tool being used to communicate updates about our mission work. At www.granburycoc.net, go to Ministries and click on Missions to find descriptions of each mission work and links to the websites, blogs, and latest newsletters from our missionaries. Paper copies of the newsletters are also available at the new Missions Center in the east atrium.

God is doing exciting things through our missionaries around the world. Let’s honor our partnership with them by praying for them and staying informed about their work in extending the kingdom.
