Barrier to Belief: Broken Lives

Brokenness characterizes the lives of so many in the world. Some of it comes through abuse, neglect, and pain inflicted by other people, while other times it is a consequence of our own sin and poor choices. Either way, it can leave us feeling hopeless, convinced that no one is strong enough or cares enough to help us put the pieces of our lives back together. Brokenness can be a barrier to belief.

 

Jesus came to heal our brokenness. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He brings hope of new life,  both now and for eternity.

 

Here are some ways our mission partners are bringing the hope of Christ to broken people.

  • Providing a Christ-centered home for abused and neglected children at Casa de la Esperanza (House of Hope) in Anahuac, Mexico.
  • Conducting a monthly small group focused on strengthening marriages in Mexico City.
  • Furnishing housing and work opportunities for those coming out of a life of addiction in Itu, Brazil.
  • Broadcasting a weekly radio program on family topics and teaching inmates in the local prison in Cuauhtemoc, Mexico.

Be thinking about what you can give next Sunday to help mend broken lives, “that the world may believe.”
